Volunteer Descriptions

Museum Attendant

The Museum Attendant will work at the front desk area of the museum, checking in members, collecting payments from non-members, and completing merchandise sales. They will also ensure that the Pay-As-You-Can Café area remains clean throughout the day and provide information to customers.

Storytime Session Reader

The Storytime Session Reader will read books to children of various ages at designated times throughout the week. This is a great volunteer opportunity for people who want to volunteer regularly (weekly) but for a short amount of time (1 hour!)

Field Trip Host

The Field Trip Host will open the museum for a designated field trip party (such as a school), collect payment for that field trip, oversee the facility during the designated field trip time slot, ensure the museum is picked up at the end of the field trip, and lock the museum upon leaving. This is a great opportunity for people who want to volunteer in 3 hour shifts and enjoy working with large groups of children! You can volunteer on an occasional basis or as often as you like. The museum will be closed to the general public on field trip days.

Birthday Party/Private Party Host

The Birthday Party/Private Party Host will open the museum for a designated birthday party/private party, collect payment for that party, oversee the facility during the designated party time slot, ensure the museum is picked up at the end of the party, and lock the museum upon leaving. This is a great opportunity for people who want to volunteer in 3 hour shifts and prefer to work with smaller groups of people! You can volunteer on an occasional basis or as often as you like (and a private party is booked).

Pay-As-You-Can Cafe Coordinator

The Pay-As-You-Can-Café Coordinator will help ensure our café refrigerators are always stocked full of healthy foods for kids! You choose the days/times that you'll swing by the museum - just don't let our refrigerators run out of food!

1st of the Month Free Book Coordinator

The Oshkosh Kids Museum will provide free books to kids on the 1st day of the month, every month and we need someone to help coordinate that! This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to volunteer once a month and loves getting books into kid's hands!

Toy Library Coordinator

The Toy Library Coordinator will assist people in checking out toys and re-stocking toys that are returned. They will help ensure returned toys are clean and not broken before putting them back into circulation.

Seasonal Event Volunteer

The Seasonal Event Volunteer will help out as needed at special events and holiday parties at the museum. This is a great opportunity for people who want to volunteer on an occasional basis!

Fundraising Event Volunteer

The Fundraising Event Volunteer will help out as needed at fundraising events for the museum. This is a great opportunity for people who want to volunteer on an occasional basis and get started helping the museum now prior to launch!

Educator/Instructor

The Educator/Instructor will host classes and workshops for children at the Oshkosh Kids Museum. Make this what you want it to be! Love art, music, science, math, technology? Share that passion with kids and feel great teaching them something new! You decide how often you want to teach and the time slots that work for you!
